Color coding:
Green = These areas are generally free of specific threats and forseeable hazards. Tourists can dwell here without constant caution - although not free of any awareness at all.
Included in these areas are specifically the hotel zones of Sousse and Hammam-Sousse, Hammamet and Hammamet Yasmine, Monastir and Monastir Skanes, Mahdia, Port El Kantaoui, Zarzis and on the island of Djerba.
Yellow = Low risk potential. However, it is recommended to avoid remote and deserted areas at night. One should keep up a constant awareness.
Entering the areas outside of hotels and the directly adjacent premises is recommended only for tourists who know the country and the language.
Orange = Medium risk potential. A constant caution must be maintained. These zones are not free of definite danger, especially at night or in remote areas (staying with groups is recommended).
Tourists should enter these areas only after retrieving actual information about the state of security! In the south, the risk consist also of the possible impact of heat and dryness in the sahel and desert regions.
Red = Definite, life threatening risk potential and/or military closed area.
Avoid entering this zone and/or entering only possible with official permission/guide!
Even for experienced travellers in Tunisia, this area is dangerous. One should only travel in groups and should not be recognizeable from far away as being tourists. In the south, a distinct knowledge about behaviour in desert areas is needed as well!
Purple = Extremely high life threatening risk potential and/or military closed area.
Avoid entering this zone and/or entering only possible with official permission/guide!
